We were hit by a winter storm overnight and though it has not turned out to be as big a storm as predicted, I feel that it is appropriate to dig out some spring flower pictures to make us all feel a bit warmer.
And what am I mixing in with my pictures of tulips? Some lofty, inspirational or poetic quotes? No. This cold winter weather calls for stronger medicine! Something clever and funny is needed:
"Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing up is like shoveling the walk before it stops snowing."
"I buried a lot of my ironing in the back yard."
"You know you're old if your walker has an airbag."
"The reason women don't play football is because 11 of them would never wear the same outfit in public." all quotes Phyllis Diller
As a child, I always thought Phyllis Diller was a hoot in her mini-dress and go-go boots. And then, there was that crazy electric shock treatment hairdo of hers! Her jokes seem a bit old school now, but she was a pioneer in her day. Keeping her good company were Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett.
"I am not funny. What I am is brave."
"The secret to staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about
your age." both quotes Lucille Ball
"Comedy is tragedy plus time."
"When you have a dream, you've got to grab it and never let go." both quotes Carol Burnett
Stay warm!
Ha! A good chuckle for the soul and a nice treat for the eye. That shade of tulip (un-nameable) exactly matches the colors in your header and is making me smile as much as the one liners!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos and great quotes Jennifer.

With a big smile from the cold Netherlands...a warm greeting from Elly
What a good chuckle for this morning.LOL! That may be an idea. Maybe my ironing board would make an extra table for seed starting. LOL!

ReplyDeleteAhhh, bright flowers and some good humour. One of the best ways to brighten up a gray winter day. ~Alana~
ReplyDeleteGood to hear the storm isn't too bad out your way, it's only just hitting us out east now. Hubby is trapped in Toronto waiting for the roads to clear so he can come home.
ReplyDeleteDear Jennifer, Lucille Ball must date back some time as I seem to recall her on television and I have not had a television for 30years! Her words still ring true, though!
ReplyDeleteThe glossy purple tulips are lovely and certainly full of cheer on this dreary day!
Love the quotes from some of my favorite people. Your photos really hit the spot with the weather we're having.
